I am very happy to announce that I will be hosting a panel at ANIME NORTH Toronto 2017.
Obviously the panel is art related, it's specifically themed around painting and art improvement. The panel is more of a presentation then anything, as I alone will be talking over a slideshow of different artwork for about an hour.
The presentation is comprised of lessons on how to practice to get better, adjusting your mental state to have better focus and goal orientation, and an overview of art fundamentals that are often overlooked. But most of all, it's main focus is to be motivating and inspirational, I don't think it's enough to simply be educational. I've been working on this script for a long time and put a lot of thought and research into it, I also really wanted to make it as dense as possible for it to be as beneficial as it can be, and smooth as possible to fit the limited time slot of the convention's schedule. If you want insight on how to become a better artist, even if you're at a higher level then I am, it can bring you clarity and revisions are always needed at any stage, please attend.
I will also be selling artwork at a table at OTAKUTHON Montreal 2017.
I've sold stuff at this convention twice before and am happy to be doing it again. I have a lot of new merchandise this year and my setup will be getting a major upgrade. This is also my first time tabling without a second artist sharing the space, this means I have double the room but have to pay the full price instead of half. Thankfully my two homeboys will be joining this time to lend a hand with the set up and cover for me if I need to step out.
Every year I've been surprised at my popularity and at the amount of money I made considering I didn't have much merchandise with an OK at best display, only half the table space, and did everything last minute. A lot of my work isn't actually posted on this account or any account at all as I don't post many doodles, sketches or casual drawings anywhere. I actually do a fair amount of anime and cartoon work but I often don't bother putting it up online. In any case, my merchandise will vary with different styles and types of item. I will be doing on the spot commissions and offering digital commissions slots at a special price during the convention. If you see me, come say hello, let me know you watch me on DA, do not feel pressured into buying anything, I never push, saying hi is enough of a reward.
Needless to say that I've been working very hard, drawing for my table, making sure I have everything I need for merchandising and display, working on my portfolio, making tutorials, doing freelance, and planning a panel, which doesn't seem like much effort until you remember your high school days were you needed two weeks to prepare for a simple 10th grade 3 minute oral presentation in front of like 25 students and a teacher. It really shifts your perspective to the amount of work it takes to write an hour long script about an intricate subject in front of a hundred adults. I do think that all my work is paying off and honestly even with the tight schedule, I'm enjoying myself very much.
IF YOU'RE AT EITHER OF THESE CONVENTIONS PLEASE COME AND SEE ME! I will absolutely appreciate anyone who comes to say hello or discus a topic.
I will make an update with the the times and locations of both.
Thank you for your continuous support.
